Sandstone reservoir zonation of the north-western Bredasdorp Basin South Africa using core data

چکیده

This study delineates sandstone reservoir flow zones in the north-western Bredasdorp Basin, offshore South Africa, using conventional core porosity and permeability data. The workflow begins by integrating sedimentology reports logs to identify lithofacies before evaluating petrophysical zones. Three were classified as 1, 2, 3. Lithofacies 1 is a silty shale bioturbated sandstone, 2 an interbedded shale, with very fine well-sorted grains, heavily cemented. Conversely, 3 fine-to medium-grained minor that moderately cementation. ranked best rock, followed 1. Four independent zonation methods (permeability anisotropy, Winland r35 pore throat, zone indicator (FZI), stratigraphic modified Lorenz lot (SMLP)) applied samples from three wells (MO4, MO5, MO6). predominantly had slight anisotropic (0.5–1.1). units into four categories tight, low, moderate, based on permeability, calculated parameters. Owing unit heterogeneity, classification was average values. moderate exhibits quality, which associated very-low extends laterally all wells. tight showed fluid storage potential but no capacity. In general, do not always correspond low identified well MO5 are comparable previously (MO2, MO3, MO1) Western Basin.

Regional Reservoir Quality Trends in Mesozoic Sandstone Reservoirs of the North Atlantic Margin Basins of Eastern Canada and South-Western Ireland

Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous sandstones form major exploration targets across the North Atlantic Margin basins of Eastern Canada and South-West Ireland. Although there have been world-class discoveries offshore Newfoundland in the Late Jurassic Jeanne d’Arc Formation and Lower Cretaceous Hibernia and Ben Nevis Formations, large tracts of the margin remain relatively under-explored, so the...

Source of Cement in the Great Oolite Reservoir, Storrington Oil Field, Weald Basin, South of England

The source of cement in oilfields is critical to the prediction of the distribution of cements in the reservoirs and also prediction of reservoir quality. The source of mineral forming cements has been determined for the Storrington oolitic carbonate reservoir (Middle Jurassic Great Oolite Formation, Weald Basin, onshore UK) using a combination of petrography, electron microscopy, fluid inclusi...

Reservoir characterization of a Permian deep-water sandstone, East Ford field, Delaware basin, Texas

Deep-water sandstones of the Delaware Mountain Group in west Texas and southeast New Mexico contained an estimated 1.8 billion bbl of original oil in place, but primary recovery from these fields is commonly less than 20%. East Ford field in Reeves County, Texas, which produces from the Ramsey sandstone in the upper Bell Canyon Formation, went directly from primary production to tertiary recove...

An Evaluation of the Role of an Intermediate Care Facility in the Continuum of Care in Western Cape, South Africa

Background A comprehensive primary healthcare (PHC) approach requires clear referral and continuity of care pathways. South Africa is a lower-middle income country (LMIC) that lacks data on the role of intermediate care (IC) services in the health system. This study described the model of service provision at one facility in Cape Town, including reason for admission, the mix of services and ski...
